On February 29, 2016 the BC Academic Health Science Network (BC AHSN) was established as an independent provincial organization that fosters collaboration and the diffusion of excellence in care, research and education among health system partners. BC AHSN is also responsible for governance and oversight for the BC SUPPORT Unit, in accordance with the Unit’s business plan.
Since March 2016, BC AHSN has focused on three major priorities:
- Supporting the development of the BC SUPPORT Unit and the fulfilment of funder/partner requirements
- Organizational start-up activities (e.g. implementing financial controls, HR framework, permanent governance and related policies)
- Developing a draft strategy framework that describes BC AHSN’s value proposition and its priority strategies.
